Is the Nintendo Switch Pro really coming? Well this latest rumor sure adds some fuel to the fire! Nvidia are apparently stopping production of the Tegra X1 chip, the SoC that powers the Nintendo Switch.
Gamereactor says sources are claiming that the chip that powers the Nintendo Switch, the Switch Lite, and also the Nvidia Shield TV, is coming to the end of production. Thrown in with a report from Bloomberg claiming that a new 4K capable Nintendo Switch is coming, an upgraded model is looking likely.
Obviously this could mean that a new tweaked SoC is coming, but we are hoping for something a little more beefy.
If true, it wouldn’t be the first time Nintendo decided to upgrade their flagship device part way through the lifecycle. We saw upgrades to the DS throughout its life, and with the popularity of the Nintendo Switch, it seems like a smart move that could allow them to stick with a similar device without having to upgrade it completely.
Let us know your thoughts. Are you eagerly awaiting an upgraded Nintendo Switch, or are you hoping for a completely revamped next gen model?
