Is Nvidia Geforce Now In trouble

With the round of new announcements from Nvidia GeForce Now, we have to ponder the question: Is Nvidia GeForce Now in trouble?

First up, Nvidia announced new worldwide partners which will allow them to roll out the cloud gaming service to more locations. They also announced more capacity in their busiest locations, along with some new ‘de-jitter’ technology to improve the streaming experience.

Along with the improved tech, we’ve seen more games coming to the service recently, and Nvidia have pledged to increase this by 50% more per week, so on average we should see about 15 titles being added weekly. Great right? Well, maybe.

The big problem for Nvidia GeForce Now came with their price hike. It wasn’t unexpected, Nvidia has always been transparent about this, but it brings them dangerously close in cost to another gaming service.

At $9.99 a month, Nvidia GeForce Now is only $1 a month away from Microsoft Gamepass. Their service offers a whole host of top end and current games for multiple platforms, and although their Xcloud service isn’t fully fleshed out yet, it will be soon.

Microsoft has already said that in the spring we will see improved streaming resolutions, support for iPhones and iPads, and also support for PC game streaming. That brings them up the same standard as Nvidia GeForce Now.

The question is, how will Nvidia respond. Nvidia has the advantage that users can play the games they love, and if they’re bought into Steam, then there’s loyalty there. Moving forward however, Microsoft Gamepass might become the far more attractive proposition for Cloud Gamers.

Competition is a good thing. Both of these cloud gaming services will need to thrash it out, and hopefully that means a better service for us, the customers.

Let us know what you think in the comments. Which cloud gaming service, if any, will you end up going for?
