Final Fantasy 8 available for mobile

After being skipped for such a long time, FFVIII Remastered finally arrives on iOS and Android. For fans of the 8th Final Fantasy game, you can now pick it up on your mobile phone or tablet.

Better yet, the surprise drop is the ‘remastered’ PC version, so players will be treated to a few quality of life upgrades. We do however use the term ‘remaster’ lightly when it comes to this title. Although graphics did get a boost, the character models stand out like a sore thumb compared to the older looking backgrounds.

A couple of disappointing things to note, cloud saves and controller support aren’t supported at this time. The release notes claim they will be coming later, but that’s a little frustrating.

If you haven’t played Final Fantasy 8 yet, then it’s definitely worth checking out. It was one of the more divisive releases amongst fans, but we have some very fond memories of playing through it and trying to find all of the different summons.

Early buyers will be able to pick the game up for $16.99 and after April 4th, prices will increase to $20.99.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Have you been eagerly awaiting the port of FFVIII for mobiles, or will you be giving it a pass?
